Jeanne Ryan
Social Studies Instructor & Lead Teacher

Jeanne is a co-founder of Central Sands Community High School and serves as the Social Studies and Lead Teacher.

She has a Masters Degree in Teaching from Seattle University as well as a Waldorf Teacher Certificate from Great Lakes Waldorf Institute. Her past teaching experiences include teaching social sciences in both high school and the Wisconsin Technical College System, teaching Adult Basic Education classes, and teaching English in Poland. Jeanne is a mother of two daughters, both of whom attended elementary school at Tomorrow River Community Charter School. Her family's love for this learning community inspired the creation of Central Sands as a way to continue Waldorf-inspired public education through high school. In addition to teaching and time spent with family, Jeanne loves e-biking, swimming, skiing, and traveling. 

Phil Brown
ELA Instructor, Dean of Students & SPED Specialist

Phil has been teaching Drama and English Language Arts for over a decade and joined the faculty at Central Sands at the end of 2022. Outside of his deep love for theater and literature, Phil enjoys nothing better than camping, hiking and swimming in the beautiful Wisconsin lakes with his wife and four children. 

Phil received his BA reading Film and Literature at Warwick University before going on to study Acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and education at the University of Hertfordshire. Phil is passionate about Waldorf education and is currently working towards his Waldorf Certification with the Great Lakes Waldorf Institute.

Scott Reilly
Science, Math, & Spanish Instructor

Scott has a Master's of Science in Environmental Education from UW-Stevens Point and a Teaching Certification from UW-Oshkosh for Secondary Science Education. Before Scott spent working in Latin America in biology, conservation, and education for 6 years. Scott strives to encourage students to be active participants in science and their education through real-world experiences such as citizen science data collection and local stream monitoring projects.

Scott is married and has a nine-year-old son, 2 dogs, a cat, and a tank of fish. With his family, he enjoys many silent sport activities such as camping, canoeing, birding, gardening, biking, skiing, and much more. He is excited for the work that he and the students are doing at Central Sands and to continue to help the school grow into an inspiring learning environment for students, staff, and the community.

Amanda Krueger
Family and Consumer Sciences Instructor

Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Family and Consumer Education through the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.

Amanda’s teaching experience includes working as a Certified Substitute Teacher at Tomorrow River Community Charter School and Tomorrow River Community Virtual School, and as an in-home Behavioral Therapist supporting children and young adults from ages 2 to 25. She has guided parents as a Certified Doula and Lactation Consultant, teaching classes on labor, delivery, and lactation. While volunteering in rural Kenya, Amanda taught practical skills such as square meter gardening, cooking, nutrition, composting, and vermiculture to promote sustainable living and community resilience.

Amanda is a parent of three children who attend Tomorrow River Community Charter School. She has a dog, two cats, chickens, and guinea hens. She has a deep interest in the human experience, culture, and communities. In her free time, she enjoys backpacking, camping, kayaking, gardening, and traveling.

Zachary Baldus
Art Teacher

Zachary is a professional illustrator and artist who has worked full-time in the field since 2003. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, Zachary has created artwork for major publications and companies, including Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Scholastic, HarperCollins, and The New York Times.

He brings creativity, humor, and a strong artistic perspective to the Central Sands community. Outside of his artistic work, Zachary enjoys spending time outdoors, comedy, and unicycling.

Chamomile Nusz
Executive Director

Chamomile Nusz is the owner of Circle Education LLC, a consulting service that supports innovative education and non-profit boards. She also works with the Wisconsin Resource Center for Charter Schools (WRCCS), which supports the development of high-performing charter schools throughout Wisconsin. Chamomile supported the founding of seven charter schools, including the Tomorrow River Community Charter Schools, Central Sands Community High School, Red Granite Charter School, and the Weyauwega and Fremont STEM Academies.

Chamomile is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Sustainability from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, where she received her Master's in Education. She attended Evergreen University in Olympia, Washington, and then the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Women's Studies with a minor in Dance. Chamomile is also the 2021 recipient of the Oscar W. Neale Fellowship.

Emyle Prata
Special Education Paraprofessional

Emyle brought awareness to Waldorf-inspired homeschooling before coming to Central Sands. She has an A.A.S in Health with a focus on child development, and is currently enrolled to complete her bachelor’s in the same field.

She has always found a way to serve and support others, through daily living needs, advocacy, and self-development, and it became her calling to marry the two passions of Waldorf teaching and Special Needs development.

She is the mother of four girls and enjoys crocheting, herbalism, singing, writing, and diving deep into local histories and folklore.

Alvin Schuller
Math Teacher

Hi, my name is Alvin Schuller, but I generally respond to Mr Schu.

I have an MSc in General Education from UWSP and 35 years of teaching experience in the field of Mathematics (mostly in South Africa). I also have accreditation and endorsement from MSTC to present their dual credit College Math and Integrated Math courses.

And as far as teaching goes, my continued objective is to facilitate students toward true success and contentment in the future by encouraging edifying academic and behavioral development in them.
